So far away

Sutama Yasa

Relaxed and detoxified at the resort surrounded by the jungle of Bali Ubud. In the scenery and sound of nature, start yoga from morning, eat organic food grown in the hotel, go to a spa such as Ayurveda, stroll through the nature, read by the pool Meditation and yoga in the evening. The activities organized by the hotel were enriched and the stay for a week was instant.

We were in mid-September 2019 as part of a Bali tour for a night in Bagus Jati. The hotel with the individual bungalows is beautifully situated on a steep slope in the middle of the forest. We had the house no. 102, so the way to the restaurant was short. Already the reception was good: everyone got an overview plan, in which the individual bungalows and the other facilities and ways were drawn. Noteworthy was the flower arrangement in the whole area as well as in and in the bungalows. The very large bungalow (over 70 square meters?) Consisted of several rooms in old "colonial" splendor. We found this very original and suitable for the environment and location, especially since everything was very clean and lovingly decorated. The breakfast was good and rich. The quality dinner we had taken outdoors on the terrace of the restaurant with a great view of the valley in the setting sun. The food was very good value for money and was reasonably priced (food for 2 people for the equivalent of 15 €, a fruit juice for 3 € and a large beer for 4 €). The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We would return to this hotel area anytime.

We did not come here on a retreat but as substitute for Papua so that will influence my review. It is a beautiful resort tucked away in the hills. The food was excellent even if the restaurant was 180 streets from our villa. Our villa was huge with a extremely large bathroom that included two massage tables. Because it is in the hills and had no air conditioner the room was very musty. It is all way from Ubud but the setting is incredibly. Great spot to really getaway.

Very nice location. Nice facility. Good spa

This time I stayed here because I wanted to spend more time at the hotel than sightseeing. As a result, it was a big correct answer. The grounds were in good condition and it was comfortable just walking. The room was clean and private, and I could enjoy my time slowly while feeling nature from the window and terrace. On the first day we spent sightseeing, and on the second and third days we spent the spa and free activities at the hotel. I also enjoyed talking with Japanese managers. The hotel concept of being healthy both physically and mentally was felt everywhere, and I was able to spend a calm and extraordinary time.

This really is a piece of paradise. The superior villa was stunning. All rooms had views of the lush greenery. Great yoga practice each morning. I didn't feel like leaving;).

What a great facility, nestled in an incredibly beautiful environment. Terraced apartments are distributed in the incredibly green nature. You just have to be good on foot! Good and not so expensive food!

"We stayed here for three nights during our honeymoon in Bali and were stunned by the beauty of the resort and the surrounding environment. With that, it may not be the best place for everyone, so here are some pros/cons we came up with: Pros: -Wonderful staff: everyone was so welcoming and kind -Scenery: absolutely breathtaking, everywhere you look is idyllic scenery that we had never experienced before -Privacy: if you are looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle, this is it. It’s so quiet and each villa is its own separate bungalow, providing so much peace and quiet Critiques: -Only one restaurant: while the menu selection was generally good, I could see how you’d start running out of options after more than a few days there. -Distance from other major towns: it is a 30-40 minute drive to Ubud. The seclusion is what makes this place so serene, but if you’re looking to be able to venture out and about, you’d have to make at least a half of a day of it. -Lots of steps: just a natural result of being situated in the hills is that you should be prepared to walk up and down several steps to get around the resort. They do offer transportation via cart if you need it though -Higher priced spa services: spa services were almost twice as much as what we saw throughout Bali, although we had a wonderful massage experience -No AC: we were worried this would be an issue but it’s cool in the mountains where this wasn’t too much of a problem. However, it did feel a little muggy in the early evening in our room."

An amazing, special location. The staff were all so lovely. Service was great. The grounds and rolling hills are kept immaculate. The pool, spa, food was all so impressive. We didn’t want to leave. What a magical place to relax and unwind. Handy to have the free shuttle service to Ubud. We stayed 3 nights in late July.

Bahagia!!! Dilengkapi pelayanan yang sigap tanggap dan ramah, Terima kasih bagus jati atas pengalaman indah menginap disini. Saya akan kembali lagi 🙏 😇"

The hotel is located in the middle of the jungle. Except this hotel is nothing except trees, birds and monkeys (which unfortunately we did not get to see). We were there at the beginning of our trip and wanted to get there, Jetleg cure, relax ... Everything worked wonderfully 🙂 The complex is really very nice, large, green and quiet .. The rooms and lounges / places are very clean and beautiful. From the balcony you have an unobstructed view of the jungle - the most beautiful view is from the jacuzzi, followed directly by the dining room (for breakfast and dinner). The rooms, especially the bathrooms are very nice and lovingly decorated. We fell in love directly with the shower;) You can spend your time doing nothing, relaxing, at a spa treatment, yoga, aqua fit or in the pool. We were out of high season and we were almost alone ... It was a wonderful introduction to Bali! We come back anytime, it was just great !! There is a small minus point to add: The food must be taken in the dining room, as it has nothing around. Therefore, the prices a bit more expensive, the food was delicious!

"Bagus Jati is peaceful, quiet and wonderfully set in nature on the hillside of a tropical forest, far away from the touristy crowds seen in much of Bali. We had a gorgeous terrace looking out over the entire valley and could see the sun rise and set every day. The grounds are beautifully laid out, with stone steps and paths winding through gardens, pavilions and water features so typical of Bali's beauty. There is also a wonderful spring fed pool and lovely spa. The entire time one has the feeling of being surrounded by nature and gardens and balinese architecture. The attention to detail is very touching with bowls filled with flowers dotted throughout the gardens and rooms. The resort is wide spread which gives a nice feeling of space and privacy, some guests might have issues with the distances and number of steps. That said, there are buggies to pick up guests any time. We however did enjoy the long walks up and down the gardens. The staff were all extremely thoughtful and kind, from the reception to the restaurants, the spa staff and cleaning staff, the service by the pool, the yoga teachers...everyone was attentive, warm and kind. A special thanks to reception for giving us room 106 as an upgrade, it made our ten days very special. We enjoyed yoga every morning and afternoon and the yoga room itself made the lessons blissful with the sound of waterfalls, birds, and the panorama of the forest. The lessons themselves were very good. The food was wonderful, many choices on the menu and an excellent breakfast that was served at your table, which is much nicer than a buffet. The restaurant staff were lovely and always a pleasure to exchange words with. There are many activities offered, for example nature walks, yoga, temple visits and ceremonies. There is also a shuttle service to take you into Ubud. The spa services were excellent and very professional. It should be noted, we travelled during the low season, which meant there weren't many guests in the entire hotel. This naturally enhanced the feeling of peace and quiet which we quite enjoyed. On our last night a large group arrived, I'm not sure how the atmosphere would have changed had the hotel been full."

"I am a yoga studio owner and retreat leader from Johns Creek, GA, USA. I brought a group of 26 people to Bagus Jati 2 weeks ago, and I was overwhelmed by the incredible service and attention to detail provided by the staff throughout our time. The grounds and facilities at Bagus Jati are breathtakingly beautiful and provide a full immersion into true Balinese culture, complete with a large sacred temple, daily offerings of flowers and incense and meticulously manicured gardens. I had visited last year, and this is what impressed me the most, but having fully immersed there for a week, I must say that the beauty of the staff far exceeds the beauty of the landscape. I had been in close communication with the resort manager, Nyoman, prior to our arrival, and his careful planning, excellent record keeping and coordination made everything go incredibly smoothly...from multiple airport pick-ups and transfers, to planning excursions, to room preparation for our yoga practices and meetings. Our group included a number of people with special dietary needs, all of which were attended to at every single meal. The restaurant manager, Styawan, was a highlight of the trip with his careful menu preparation, but he really went above and beyond our expectations when he invited us into his home when we went to his village for the Ogah Ogah celebration before Nyepi. Finally...a special mention to our tour guide, Buddha who shared his culture with us on every outing, climbed Mount Batur, walked us through numerous temples, shared a bike ride and led us in multiple blessing ceremonies at the temple. His joyful demeanor and deep knowledge of both the area and culture left us all with a new appreciation for the Balinese people in general. Thank you to the entire staff at Bagus Jati for a wonderful week!"

It is about 60 km north from the international airport of Bali, but it takes about 2 hours because there is a traffic jam. It is an unexplored resort. It is a luxury natural resort of Jati village located further northward from the mountain in Ubud and ahead of the famous Tegaralan on the rice terrace. I am relieved because there are Japanese staff and chef. The cuisine is also mild and the local vegetables are very delicious. There is a vegetarian menu. There are three yoga rooms and you can do yoga every morning. Since there is a wide range of height difference, we recommend using a cart, but if you are confident in your strength, walking from the yoga room to the front desk and restaurant, you will not be hungry. Papaya soup (similar to pumpkin soup) and carrot juice (natural sweetness and fresh scent) are exquisite. Activity is abundant including walking around Jati village.

This hotel is everything you may wish for if you need to get away and recharge. Get away from technology or stay as connected as you want to. They offer multiple activities that connect you with the local culture.. temples surround this magical place. A set up for relaxation... surrounded by the jungle and magical nature from Bali. Culture is respectful, happy and harmonious. A place to visit in Bali. Massages are AMAZING! Ubud is just 30 min away and the hotels has shuttles. They include nature walks, spa oil recipes with natural ingredients, amazing food - mostly vegetarian but with non vegetarian options.

I came here with a friend for a long weekend getaway. The grounds were so much more beautiful than I could have ever hoped for! The rooms were lovely and the staff was great. We did yoga each day and ate at the restaurant for most meals. The meals were delicious and there were plenty of options. I can’t speak more highly of the staff at this hotel. From the front desk, to the ladies in the spa, to our cooking class teachers...everything was amazing. I would highly recommend this retreat.

I was here for a yoga retreat for 11 nights. The yoga retreat was fabulous, but my review needs to focus on Bagus Jati. Yes!! Just say YES to this beautiful and sweet place. You are quite literally surrounded by nature, jungle, rivers and peace. My room, 303, was so comfortable, the grounds of this retreat are stunningly beautiful and the food is all grown on the grounds – it’s amazing! The spa… I could not ask for more accommodating and talented therapists. I tried several different treatments while staying there and each one was unique. The pool. That pool. It’s stunning. Be prepared for the stairs and hills. You are in the jungle. They were always accommodating with golf carts to come and get you, which I used after spa treatments – but otherwise, I climbed. It was a great workout and a wonderful way to experience all the nature that is nurtured here. Buddha was a fantastic guide. Everyone I interacted with at Bagus Jati was helpful, friendly and easy.
